- Seeming to be satisfied by the answer, the head coach turned away from me and started off towards the middle of the room. She pulled the team with her, drawing them along magnetically as she marched away from me. With sharp gestures of her hands she began to direct the team into various exercises, not needing to say a word as she split the girls into groups and got them working.
- Tori walked over, sidling up next to me. "I think she likes you, and I've heard she hates most men. So that's a very good sign." Tori whispered to me. Even though she kept her voice low I could hear the mirth in her voice. She must have seen the shock in my eyes when I saw how young, and how pretty, the coach was. Tori knew that I had expected her to be some crusty old crone, and took pleasure in seeing my predictions be subverted.
- I scowled for a brief moment before smiling and letting out a soft chuckle under my breath. I couldn't help but share in Tori's joke, even if it was at my expense. "How in hell could you get from the brief interaction the idea that she likes me?" I asked, speaking in a low whisper as well.
